We understand how important it is to have clarity and support when planning a funeral. On the day of the service, we’ll take care of all the details, allowing you to focus on your loved ones and the ceremony itself. Here’s what to expect on the day of the funeral, and how we will guide you through every step.
Finalising the Details
By the time the funeral day arrives, all arrangements regarding the service will be finalised. We will have confirmed all of the details, so you won’t need to worry about anything other than being there with your family and friends.

The Funeral Procession
The procession typically begins from the location of your loved one, usually their home, but you can choose another starting point if preferred. We’ll arrive at the agreed time, allowing you to view any floral tributes before we depart.
If family and friends are travelling separately, they can join the procession from the starting location. Our experienced chauffeur-driven limousines will be ready to transport everyone, passing by any meaningful landmarks as requested.
Leading the Cortege
Our lady funeral director often leads the cortege on foot for a short distance before joining the hearse. Upon arrival at the venue, whether it's a church or crematorium, they’ll lead the cortege once again to ensure everything runs smoothly.
If you’ve chosen family and friends to act as pallbearers, we will inform them of their duties ahead of time. There will be enough pallbearers to escort the coffin with the dignity and respect it deserves.
The Service
Once everyone has arrived, the service will begin. Close family members typically sit at the front of the venue. The structure of the service is unique to every family, whether it’s a religious ceremony, a non-religious service, or a more personal tribute.
At Walsh Funerals & Memorials, we ensure that the service reflects your loved one’s life, beliefs, and wishes.
Post-Service Tributes
After the service, we will guide you to the area where floral tributes have been placed. This provides a chance for you and your guests to pay your respects before we move on to the next destination, such as a committal service or wake.
Your funeral director will be available throughout the day, providing support and answering any questions you might have.
After the Funeral
Continued Support
Once the funeral is over, we’ll check in with you to ensure that everything went as planned and that you’re satisfied with the service. We’ll also confirm any donations received and discuss how they will be handled.
If your loved one was cremated, we will arrange a convenient time for you to collect their ashes, should you wish to do so.
If you have any questions in the days following the funeral, feel free to reach out to us. We’re here to help.
Memorials and Keepsakes
As time passes, you may decide what to do with your loved one’s ashes. Some families choose to scatter them at a special location, while others may prefer to keep them in an urn at home. We offer a variety of beautiful urns and scatter tubes for you to consider.
For those who want a lasting tribute, we also offer a wide selection of ashes jewellery, which has become a popular way for families to keep their loved one close.
